I'm a Brand Design Director with over twelve years of experience leading internal design teams, but I started as a designer at Red Herring Design back in the early 2000s when we relied on bike messengers to get printed book layouts to our clients. So, I know what good creative leadership looks and feels like from the bottom up. I model how I lead after some of the best leaders I've had. It's often called being a "player-coach" but I see it as being in the files with the team, owning the hero pieces, and making space for others to own theirs too.
Sometimes I build an identity from scratch and other times I'm taking a set strategy and designing every touchpoint that brings it to life. More often than not, I work in the messy space in between those two. The work I love most is the full arc, from the first logo sketch to the templates that keep the brand consistent at scale with usable brand guides, email systems, social toolkits, motion frameworks, event identity, and collateral systems that turn a rebrand into something that actually works.
These days I do that work as a freelance and fractional brand design lead, based in Brooklyn and working remote with teams globally. I integrate AI (Claude, Claude Design, Adobe Firefly, Cowork) into my day-to-day work and production, so I can deliver more without losing the craft. Financial services, fintech, B2B, and mission-driven work are where I do my best work.
Brands I've built with: Bloomberg, GLG, TIAA, Lazard, JC Flowers, Bailard, Johnson & Johnson, Simon & Schuster.
Let's work together.
